Director/Owner/Instructor- Julie Keeney 

Julie has been dancing for over 40 yrs.  She graduated with a BFA in Dance Performance/Choreography from the University of New York College at Brockport.  Her talent was enriched by the highly acclaimed professors, Garth Fagan, PJ Pennewell, Timothy Draper and Jamey Throumoulos Leverett to name a few.  

 

While at Brockport, Julie did an internship at Brockport High School teaching "JAZZ" and also taught an “INTRO TO DANCE” class at Suny Brockport teaching JAZZ and MODERN. Julie was part of DANSCORE which is a touring dance company. Julie also performed in several self-choreographed performances and participated in dance pieces that were adjudicated at ACDFA festivals at Corning N.Y.  

 

Julie has been teaching dance for over 30yrs. in the local area. Julie’s specialties are Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Contemporary/ Lyrical and Modern. Julie has received several 1st Place Overalls, Platinum awards, Highest Overall Scoring, Entertainer awards, Top teacher and Best Choreography awards at local competitions in the area for her Lyrical and Modern pieces throughout the yrs. 

 

Julie has held numerous fitness classes in the local area for over 10yrs. She is currently certified in POUND Fitness & Pilates through ACE & AFAA Fitness. Julie is also certified in CPR /First Aid and AED training.

 

Julie is currently a Fitness Specialist at The Arc of Monroe where she is an instructor in Fitness/Dance/Rec to the geriatric population with developmental and intellectual disabilities. She has participated in a charity event  for the last 2 years called "DANCING WITH THE ARC" choreographing for local celebrities and people supported for the Arc of Monroe in 2024 and 2025. 

 

In 2020, Julie's dreams came true, when she opened a Wellness/Dance studio for all ages and abilities to enjoy.

Instructor-Lauren Bishop

 We are excited to introduce our new Hip-Hop teacher, Lauren Bishop, at DanceCore! With 15 years of dance experience and a passion for working with children, Lauren has dedicated many years to assisting young dancers. Currently studying American Sign Language English/Interpreting at Finger Lakes Community College, her enthusiasm and patience shine through in every class. We believe she will be a fantastic addition to our team!
